Current Obsession

Messy up-do's... they baffle me really. They are so gorgeous but so mysterious. Afterall, how in the world do you achieve this look? I've tried, I really, really have. But for the life of me, I can never get my up-do to look this good. Tips anyone??

i think you have to find the right texture for your hair..you know? like, having it wavvy or slept on? i'm doing hair week next week...i'll see if i can help! plus i think you have to have a bum load of hair! ;)

I like the hair!

I love them too....Im thinking it has to do with getting your hair the right consistency first..maybe with hot rollers, etc....:)

Have a Fantastic Weekend!!!

I lovee! I think the secret is to start with a pony tail and tease it a bit to create volume.

I know exactly what you mean! Perfecting a messy up-do/pony/bun is SO hard! (yet looks so easy for some people). I have fine, thin hair so my up-dos always look kinda weak. I think you need a bunch of long, thick hair. All there is to it! (and maybe a good hair elastic and a few bobby pins.....

i agree, id love to be able to do this with my hair! adorable! xx

I think the secret is to not give a shit. Seriously. When I get up in the morning and pull my hair back to wash my face I can totally achieve the perfect messy up-do. But when I try for it, it never happens.

Anonymous said...

I wish I could do that!

I love these! I am totally into the messy updo right now but haven't mastered mine like these.

My daughter did it!

Miz.November - I think you finally figured out the secret!! You're right on.

I love wearing a messy bun in winter, when I'm wearing scarfs
they're easy to do, but it's hard to look as pretty as the girl on the first picture, her hair is amazing

The last pic is one of my personal favorites! I totally get your obsession :D Just as you, I'm always trying to get the same result with my hair, but it seems impossible :( x

I usually put my hair in high ponytail then pull the last loop till almost the end. Then I pull my hair forward and start bobby pinning my hair all around in circle its messy but cute.

Love this effortlessly chic look... Unfortunately, when I try it, I always look so ridiculous.

Wish I knew how to do this! I think it depends on hair type a lot and strategic pieces being left out!

I love messy updos but I'm not able to get them to look that good either! Instead, I chopped off my hair into a bob ;)

I do love the messy hair look...this is how my hair looks after a dip in the ocean (I heard sea salt works wonders for texturizing!) or an all-nighter :)

PursuitOfLLT said...

I bet we all do it well but when we've done it we think it looks bad! I know when I do it I think, ugh I'm trying too hard and I take it down.

I want this look to work for me, but apparently I'm a mess when it comes to this!

I love these hair do's.

I think too many years of ballet lessons and Dep gel ruined me for messy hair. I wish I could get it right, but it always ends up a little over-styled!

Oh these photos look divine! Perfect timing for my hair catastrophy! :( The red in your photo looks divine, mine - not so much! And I should probably start out saying that I did not ask for orange hair when I went into the salon.
Those fun messy updoos look fantastic too!
:)

Happy Monday!

I love messy buns! I wish I could pull them off! I want thicker hair. I will keep trying... but I can't pull it off yet!

I love them too. And wear them. I just part my hair on the side, sweep it up and tie with a band three times. But just because I do this doesn't mean it looks, um...'right'.

Stephanie @ La Dolce Vita said...

I like it too, but it is so hard to get right - like you want it to look messy and stylish, not like you didn't actually brush it this week!

You can only achieve this look when you've just taken off your make-up and about to head to bed. So pretend you're doing that and you'll be all set :) xo

For what looks like the simplest of hair styles, I can't for the life of me get mine to go like it either!

Heather Feemster said...

Love it. just pull it all into a nice loose ponytail at the top of your head then twist to your liking and pin.

I wish I had a tip for you but this baffles me as well, so cute though

Kristen said...

me either sister! i think you have to have long thick hair to work it like the pics

Anonymous said...

I love messy buns, but mine only work if I pull my hair up and then sleep on it. If I intentionaly try to do it-nothing works!

Michaela said...

Haha!! I feel the same way about messy buns! I think I'm too much a perfectionist to master it!
