Do or Don't

Good Morning my lovlies! What a week, what a week. I'm using this morning to go through all of my favorite blogs and because I've been a little MIA lately, I can't wait to see what you've all been posting!

So, I love doing the Do or Don't series because it never fails, you guys are usually pretty split when it comes to the topics in question. And even though I usually start off having pretty firm opinions on things, after reading all your comments at the end of the day, I usually have no idea which way I'm leaning anymore. So tell me everyone, are Murses a yay or nay? I mean, c'mon, all the cool guys have them. And quiet honestly, they sure know how to pick 'em (especially the fabulous LV or Gucci clutches!).

So, should men be sporting a man purse or should they leave the purses up to us? Does your man have one??

Hm, I think the only guy in the pictures who can pull if off is Ryan Reynolds.

i say NO! .. i love my men to be metro and all - but a whole 'purse' thing - not down! .. one thing to have a bag for work - but not as an actual 'purse' - so not for me

A man who carries a purse doesn't bother me but they wouldn't be 'my type' of guy.
I'm much more for the 'man's man'.
Brad(hubs) would say purses are only for Euros.

Satchels for the guys? Incredible idea but I love it!

Ha! Well, my husband carries around a "man bag," or a murse for school. It carries his laptop and books. Not quite as small as most of these photos but the effect is almost the same. It's a do for some of them.

terence howard can do anything he wants in my book. if that man wants to put on a ballgown with purple roller skates; he's still 100% hunky hunk to me.

I think for school or work is absolutely fine...but like going out to a dinner or party or something...definitely not!!

Kristen said...

Ummmm I would say no, but if they want to carry one why not? I'm like you, I'll feel one way about something then read comments and start to lean the other way. It's good though I guess to broaden your horizons or see diff points of view. I guess I can't hate too much though about a murse, my dad always wears a fanny pack but thinks it's ok bc it's real leather and eddie bauer. LOL.

I think it's okay sometimes...like when a man is going to work, or when it's a diper bag and he is taking care of his kids....not something for everyday or cocktail parties!

I think some can pull it off and some can't, and no, my man doesn't carry a purse, and i think it'll be hilarious if he does, so my answer is: yes: it looks good on some but no: some men just look ridiculous carrying one :)), what a fun post, i LOVE it :), wishing you a wonderful day babe, XOXO, J

oh no! I hate purses for men. the only thing I could accept is a bag to carry the laptop or work papers. but a real purse? no, not for me!

Nikki said...

I say DO! My Grandpa has a really nice leather one. He was a classy Euro man. Plus I hate when my Husband asks me to put his cell or keys in my purse. He could be carrying it in his man purse!

big messenger bags -- no problem & quite cool. clutches and tiny messenger bags.. i'm a bit weirded out. sorry guys!

Stephanie @ La Dolce Vita said...

I'm not a fan! I'm OK with the messenger bag - Becks and Hugh look good (duh!) with it. But murses? nope.

I'maNolaGirl said...

Where have I been?! I had no idea this trend watch was happening. I agree that the messengar bag looks fine, but a clutch? Hmmmm... not for me.

Lila said...

I love them all, shoulder bags or wrist bags! I use to buy them all the time for my men when I could dress them. Now that I am married that does not work anymore. haha

Kristen said...

sure, why not. My man has an over the shoulder bag / messanger bag made by Dickies, but it's not really considered a "murse." I'm ok with them though. sometimes guys gotta carry stuff too!

Go for it!

I agree with Katie,go for it!

Oh come on! Men should NOT being carrying a purse-leave them for us girls!
OK, ok, and for my gay guy friends too :)

Andrea (Panda) said...

Eh No I dont like them and I def wouldnt want to go purse shopping for him! lol. Big messanger bags are good. not sure if I would like mine to carry one though.

Kerr said...

no no no no no!!! never. leave the purses to the ladies

KristiMcMurry said...

I don't mind the satchels...that's pretty practical. But a clutch?! Seriously?! The only reason you would need that is if you were wearing a dress and didn't have pockets...so I guess for drag queens it's acceptable.

Taylor said...

For me, I do not like it!!! It's a don't for men...

I'm sorry but I'm ixnay on the murse. I just can't do it. My best gay husband has one and he looks amazing with his. Enough said.

was thinking about you last night so happy to see you today.

No murses for me. I like a man who can carry everything he needs in a wallet. That said, I am loving that first picture! Ron is very good looking.

I am for a man bag but not a murse. If it looks like a bag then go for it, because I do not know what I would do with all my stuff if I were a man, you know cell, keys, wallet, cigs etc... my pockets would look like another set of balls!

k said...

total YAY because then he can carry my things and my purse won't be so heavy :)

Roni said...

Why not? Guys have stuff to carry, too. I don't think they're very fashionable, but maybe sometimes they're necessary?

Stevie said...

Some guys can totally pull off the murse, but very few. It's a really European look so I feel like the rest of the outfit needs to be more Euro as well.

I do like a bigger messenger bag on any guy, though. That's a great look.

Oh my god. I just about died seeing the photo of Terrence Howard. Please tell me that's his date's purse. Please! I can handle messenger bags/satchels, but THAT'S IT!

Andrea said...

Im going to say its a dont. Im just not into it. I dont care how hot you are.

Lady Grey said...

it all comes down to the size of it... a large shoulder bag is fine... but as that thing gets smaller, it approaches purse territory pretty quickly : )

Krysten @ Why Girls Are Weird said...

It is one thing to have a messenger bag... that I am okay with. But an actual purse looking purse or a clutch? No no no!!

Anonymous said...

Don't.

Josie said...

For me personally, messenger bags or briefcases with shoulder straps are okay but beyond that... I have to go with a no.

yikes. it's one thing to have a messenger bag buuuut a shiny croc clutch, calm down dude, i don't care how much money you make...you're not getting away with holding a woman's clutch.

I think men need purses! I'm tired of my guy friends needing me to put things in my tiny clutch when we go out b/c they decided to wear skin tight jeans haha.

Hilarious! Thumbs up to a man satchel...big thumbs down to a man clutch!!

OneCraftyFox said...

I'm not into it, although a really nice leather tote is nice on a guy. I bought my boyfriend one from Coach a couple of years ago and he looks sexy and smart carrying it, lol. But not a clutch!!

Justine said...

hum, it depends....I think Hugh Jackman could wear anything he would still be gorgeous! I'm just a little bit fan of him ;-D
And thanks for your nice comment on my blog

Jo said...

Murses are a NO!!!!!! I would personally not be seen with a guy carrying a purse. If it doesn't fit in his pockets, he should leave it at home.

Jo said...

Okay, after making that comment, I have to clarify that a satchel for carrying a laptop or something is totally okay. That's a different story. But not a purse or clutch looking anything.

Valerie said...

Hmmm...I'm not so sure about this one. I'm all for a man holding a work bag or a backpack, but some of these just look so feminine. Have a great weekend!

No, no, no, and no! To everyone buy David Beckham... he could pull off a dress for all I care!

Christiano can wear anything and look hot! Just sayin:-)

Have a fab weekend!!!

I think man bags should only be for the quirky style guys like the last picture dude!

Jen said...

Looks like it's pretty split between yay's and nay's... how does that always happen?? ;-)

Mango Gal said...

He won't go near anything that remotely looks like a "man-purse", maybe a messenger bag like Ryan Reynolds...maybe. I think because he knows that I usually have my "holds all things" purse with me so he just throws things in there.

Carla said...

depends on who it is lol
=D

Corinne said...

I feel Beckam's is the ONLY acceptable man purse. It has to be more like a bag or backpack if a man is going to carry it. Otherwise, dumb.

LyddieGal said...

I love it! A great leather satchel or messenger bag is a gorgeous look for a guy, and then they can schlep around their own stuff!

Chic on the Cheap

Hey, I think as long as you have confidence, you can definately pull it off!! Heck, you can pretty much pull of anything with confidence! ;-)
