Reader Help

Good Morning my friends! I'm here today to ask for your help. I'm in need of a new camera (preferably a digital SLR) and since I'm always in such awe of all of your blog photos and self pics, I'd like to ask all of you: What kind of camera would you recommend or what kind of camera would you buy today if you could? Any lenses or equipment I should get with it? Any brands or styles I must stay away from? Any advice is appreciated! Thanks all. ♥  UPDATE: Thank you for all the comments already... This is such great information!!!

I just got a Canon Rebel Ti2 for Christmas and so far I love it. I need to read more on the features to develop a better understanding of the camera but it also is easy to start off with too. I also am learning to use Adobe Photoshop as well.

Canon for sure is the brand to get. I have one digital Canon EOS450D and a non-digital EOS1. I love Canon.
A zoom lens is great option if you ask me, 20-80 mm.
Good luck!

If you are going for one that has some automatic settings - the Canon T2i with a 35 mm and 50 1.4 lens. Gorgeous lenses. If you want to up the ante a little, the Canon 7D. If you want to go all out, the Canon 5DMarkII. Have fun!

I have a Canon Rebel xti with a kit lens. But I really want a 50mm 1.4 lens because I take so many face photos. And I want someone to edit them for me ;)

I have a Canon PowerShot A590IS. I LOVE it...but that's because it does all the work when I don't know what I'm doing!! I wish I could take pictures as well as you guys!! My Powershot works for me though...especially the macro shots!

I have a Canon Rebel T2i, if you look at my blog the last 14 posts were with that camera. I havn't even read the manual so you can see it isn't required to get started.

Before I was using a Samsung TL225, point and shoot so you can view the post 14 or more back for examples of that camera.

I alter photos for brightness & Exposure using Flickr free editing called picnik.

I recently got the canon rebel XS because it was in my price range and love it so far! :)

I love my Canon Rebel XS. It's their cheapest digital SLR but it works amazingly and there's a definite difference in picture quality. It'd get one of the more expensive rebel models if I had the money though.

oh goodness,, well if we are talking professional I think it's all about knowing how to use it.. (that's what few of my photographer friends say too) I have a great Sony @ (alpha) and still haven't figured it out but the photos are still amazing ,, lol
Canons and Nikons are always great too.
Good luck!

Hi, thanks for stopping by! You look like Kate Moss in this pic - or is it Kate? She is my favourite, Actually I am really interested in this post, as like Ricki I am struggling with a teeny weeny Coolpix, which is really portable, fits into my purse, ehcih means you do carry it around. But my pics lack depth, which means I have to go on to the next level...

I have bought an Olympus SP600UZ and love it so far! Played with similar models from Canon and Nikon but weren't as good as the Olympus... zoom speeds etc weren't as good, and not as many features.

I have Nikon D40 SLR and I'm really happy with it. Probably the best piece of equipment I got to go with it is a tripod - Melissa x

i got the latest canon rebel for christmas. it's a great semi-professional camera, and i find it very easy to use.

A canon T2i, or if you are wanting a pro camera, the 7D would allow you to take videos as well for your blog. It has great resolution, auto focus, and records hd video. All the lenses mentioned are fine.

(My husband is a photographer, and this is what he recommended.)
