What an amazing way to bring drama and character to a room! Leave the walls white and paint those dang ceilings!! Oh how I love, love this look. What color would you use? The vibrant red? A bright yellow? A pale gray? Home Depot, here I come!!
I love the idea of robin's egg blue. My parents painted the ceiling of our wrap around porch that color (and so have lots of other East Coasters with porches) and it's just so lovely!
i love this too. i'm considering doing this to one of our extra bedrooms. i figure then i can get away with a purple hue without the husband vetoing a purple room!
This is an amazing idea!I'd never think ot paint the celing instead of walls! The red and purple photo's are lovely.Hope you have a good weekend hun :) xx
wow! i love this! i remember reading an interview with a british interior designer who said she painted the ceiling above her bath pink so that she could see the ripples of the water in the ceiling, i thought it was a lovely idea.
These rooms look so fresh and modern. I love injecting color into rooms whenever possible, great ideas! I awarded you with the Stylish Blogger Award today on my site, I would love for you to participate. I'd love to learn 7 random facts about you. Have a great weekend!
Ooooh la la!! I LOVE the muted turquoise ceiling! It looks like the ocean in all the right ways! I can't wait to paint when we move. I'm tired of being a renter unable to paint!
i pretended i was an interior decorator last summer while i was decorating my apartment and my house. i LOVED it. it was so much fun! these rooms are freaking amazing <3
I saw a ceiliing painted in turquoise last year and fell in love with it. Because all of my main spaces: kitchen, living room, dinning room, bar and balcony are all connected I tried it in my bathroom. I did it in green and added a few accents in the same tone. i love it/
I have the same orchid color on my dinning room walls, although I have used flat matte not the satin that is shown on the ceiling in photo #3. It has been up for about 12 years.

Huh. That is cool. I think I like the purple best.
An accent ceiling is so much better than an accent wall.

Pretty ceilings! Many porches here in the South are painted sky blue, as they should be ;P

Definitely a great idea to bring a room to life. It is something we do not usually consider when decorating.
have a great weekend!

Purple goodness! I wish I had a million dollars to buy a huge house and redecorate. Maybe in time :)
Honestly, love the purple. With the gray highlights throughout the room. Beautiful. Great inspiration!

Wow, that purple ceiling really caught my eye! Gorgeous!
Now that is genius... it is almost like a surprise element, you may not see right away - I like that!
Our entire home is done with the ceilings different colors and the walls the same cream.
Here is a link to show you a couple of our rooms in a "regular" house.

We have 17 different colors and since they all have the same warm base, I think they look great together.

I think I would paint the ceiling coral and then use coral colored wall hangings against white wall.
