Stunning Ceilings

I have a major crush and you've guessed it, it's on exposed ceilings. Never in a million years did I think exposed ceilings could look this dang good! I'm this close (pinching my two fingers almost together) to tearing out my ceiling and just seeing if there may possibly be some great exposed beams underneith. I'll let you know what I find... cross your fingers!!

Beautiful!!!! In my dad's house, the house I grew up in, we had a stained wooden exposed beam in the top of the high living room ceiling. I always thought it was so pretty! :)

It's interesting that you mention this because my grandparents had exposed ceilings in their Berkeley home and I have always dreamed of having a similar ceiling since. White ceiling with dark wooden beams going across. Definitely a childhood memory that I'd like to relive.

I love them too! The next question is...leave them natural or paint them white? How does one decided!?!?

My dad has a house, well if you can call it that, like a very (VERY!!!) old house where he grew up with exposed beams, used to love it when I was a kid!!

I couldnt agree more. The exposed beams give a rustic feel to these rooms that I just adore. I think it looks beautiful even when used in a modern setting.

No need to tear out your ceiling. Those pretties can be added as a cosmetic upgrade. Just be sure to hire a pro who has done it before, because they have to be firmly anchored to your existing framework.

Jo said...

That is, of course, if your ceilings are high enough.

These really do add character to a room!

There is something about an exposed ceiling that makes me feel at home. We used to have them when I was little and I love them!
