The Clog Comeback

I've tried to ignore it for months now, thinking it might go away. But my friends, clogs have made a comeback! From the runways and fashion blogs to storefront displays and my InStyle, clogs are everywhere these days.

I've never owned a pair and most likely never will. I'll be sticking to my ballet flats and flip flops this summer (I know, so very uncool) but will you be buying a pair? Or do you already have some and just need to dust them off? So what do you say: Yay or Nay?

And just a reminder, this is how clogs used to look back in the 1800's. It's absolutely crazy these wooden shoes are still around!

I can not do it, I just can't. Not me, makes my feet look like Ronald McDonald's

I don't think I can do it, but I guess you should never say never!

I wish I had kept mine from high school days, but I am totally in they are more stylish than ever!

I could never pull these off. But how is that celebrities always look so good in something that looks so ridiculous on me?

Hmmm not so much for me? reminds me of my mom back in the day lol. I';m sure if they had a cool style it might be ok on other poeple lol!

I'm no slave to fashion, so yes, I love mine. So much easier esp when you're trying to get out the door with a few little ones (in the fall and winter). But with summer on the horizon, flip flops for sure. xoxo

I don't like clogs, they are too clunky for me!

i actually love the clog comeback, but i won't be wearing any myself as i tend to stick to flats & avoid shoes that will make me any taller!!

thanks so much for the sweet comment on my blog :)

I will most certainly look like the last image if I purchase clogs. Love Rachel's outfit! Just think it'd be so much cuter with some little satin Raposo flats.
She works it though. Happy tuesday sweets! xo

I'm not a fan of clunky ones. I might not mind a few pairs but I don't imagine myself ever wearing them.

Glam Girl said...

I can't say I'm very happy bout this trend, it looks well in pictures, I don't think I'll wear it

No Ma'am! Can't do it!

And I agree, how come the celebs can pull it off and look cute? I just think they are way too chunky shapeless. Don't get me started on crocs. I know some people swear by them but I just can't do those either!

I'm a pretty big flats person myself. And sandals. I'm not sure about clogs for me...at least for now :)

Tiny Quirks said...

haha i think clogs are so ugly, but they're so chunky and they pull together any outfit! i'm kind of obsessed with them....tehee

Hello Lover... said...

Say it ain't so! I will not be jumping into this clogwearing bandwagon. And yes it is so true - celebrities somehow manage to pull off (very stylishly) looks none of us regular folk ever could!

Thanks for the comment on my blog, it means so much!

Holy cow, I love your blog and your comment which i read at work made my day!!!
I kept reading the same about the clog trend and I hesitate, however I love the images you posted of them, you may have changed my mind!!!

Jaime @ laviejaime said...

I can't do it either! Even if Chanel started the trend again lol

If I could guarantee I'd look as fab as these celebs in them, I'd buy them in a jiffy, but as I don't want to run the risk of looking like a dutch milk maid I think I'll give them a miss. But never say never!

no, no, no! i just can't do it! sorry. but you go on with your clog self!!!

Sonya said...

Yah for sure! However, I like the peep toe ones a lot more than the closed toe, looks more modern and less old-time cloggy.

Not a clogger but have considered succumbing to the pressure since the dansko are cloglike and comfy. although i'd only wear them with long pants.

Joie de Viv said...

I like those peep-toes! I'm okay with them - will have to see if I get a deal on a pair or not.

i have a pair they arrived yesterday. they are super hard to walk in LOL. will take some practice! and where to wear them?
On a leisurly stroll lol xoxox

Semi Expat said...

I love the look of them I have to say... but you know that old saying - if you are old enough to remember wearing a trend the first time you should not indulge again and I am afraid UNFORTUNATELY I fall into this category :-( !!!

What a lovely blog! I look forward to browsing through it this evening, love your picks! as for the clogs.... undecided! xox

If only! I love how they've come into their own this season. I'd embrace clogs if I were a more coordinated walker, but in clogs, I would only be able to stand in one place, which might not be a bad thing...

iamchasingthirty said...

I was just eyeing a pair on Piperlime. I think they're darling. Now whether or not I can pull them off (and be semi-comfortable!), that will be the question!

Josie said...

I desperately wanted clogs when the girls on "Full House" wore them. But I really don't think I have the nerve or the ability to pull them off now... Bravo to those who do, though!

i think i find this trend a bit baffling! but i can be VERY SLOW to absorb and accept things that disturbed me in the past! some of them are worse than others. and i don't see me wearing any of them. :)

carolina postcard said...

yikes - those are never cute, even on an Olson twin. Nope, don't think I'll be going there.

LOL! That last pic is great. I'm not a clog girl myself but I like the look...just not on me. Thanks for visiting my blog and stopping to say hello. Blessings.

I am not all about the clog. I think it's tacky and I just can't talk myself into something hideous. Although I am the one that HATES gladiators!

Brandi said...

I'm so not a clog person. I'm much happier with ballet flats -- simple and sleek. I'm afraid if I wore clogs, one would fly off my foot someday and seriously injure a passer-by.

Shannon of HAPPINESS IS said...

I've been trying to ignore this too! Grrr. Nay for me. Never liked them. Plus they fall off your feet so easily ;) xo

Jessica said...

I like the open toed clogs a lot...but not so much with these close toed ones...spring and summer are for tooooes!

They've been growing on me. Jeffrey Campbell has a pair that I love!

Lola said...

i'm saying yay, but i'll buy sandals inspired by clogs 'cuz i'm only 16.

I am so upset at myself!
I had the COOLEST clogs ever and gave them away a few years back.... I never learn the lesson that fashion is a boomerang!
